THE WALLIS PRIZE
Named after the Castle's inaugural Curator & founder of the first 'Nottingham Open' exhibition Henry Wallis.
The winner receives £500 cash and will be selected by Nottingham Castle’s Visual Arts Team
NOTTINGHAM CASTLE PURCHASE PRIZE
Selected by Nottingham Castle’s Visual Arts Team,
one artwork, or seres of works by the same artist, will be bought to become part of the fine art collection.
THE PRIMARY PRIZE
An opportunity to develop an exhibition, residency or public project with Primary - The winner will be chosen by representatives of Primary.
THE NEW ART EXCHANGE PRIZE
An opportunity to participate in a future exhibition, learning or public programme project with NAE - The winner of this prize will be selected by New Art Exchange to reflect the aims of their organisation.
THE SYSON PRIZE
The winner of this prize will be selected by independent curator Jennie Syson, Director of SYSON gallery.
THE Tarpey gallery prize
A solo exhibition at the Tarpey Gallery in 2017.
The winner of this prize will be selected by Luke Tarpey, Gallery Director.
THE ONE THORESBY STREET PRIZE
A month long residency opportunity at One Thoresby Street, with the outcome of an exhibition in 2017 - The winner will be chosen by representatives of One Thoresby Street.
THE GREATART AWARD
One recipient will receive £250 worth of art materials and a £250 gift voucher which can be redeemed against over 50,000 products at GreatArt.co.uk – the UK’s largest range of Art Materials.
THE JOHN E WRIGHT AWARD
One recipient will be given the opportunity to produce a limited edition print run of their work (either of an existing piece or something brand new) worth £200 of materials and support to create a unique print edition of their work. The signed ‘Artists’ Proof’ will be permanently added to Nottingham Castle’s works on paper collection.
This prize will be selected by Adrian Nicholls, Group Commercial & Marketing Manager.
THE IAN ROBINSON PRIZE
A £200 cash prize - The winner will be selected by a representative of Ian Robinson Design, a company who specialises in lettering and graphics for exhibition and display.
THE ILLUMINATE PRIZE
One artist will receive a £250 cash award plus an invitation to meet Illuminate and give an informal presentation of their work (either at the Illuminate meeting place, or at the artist’s studio) - One winner will be selected by ‘Illuminate’, a group representing Nottingham Museums Young Arts Collective for 16-25 year olds.
THE SURFACE GALLERY PRIZE
A three-week residency in the ‘Project Space’ followed by a two-week exhibition in the main gallery (one or two winners will be chosen by members of the Surface Gallery Exhibitions Team).
THE NOTTINGHAM SOCIETY OF ARTISTS PRIZE
One artist will receive a £200 cash award for work in any media. The winner will be selected council members
of the NSA in line the objectives and traditions of the organisation.
With the exception of the Main Prize, all prizes are selected at the discretion of the sponsors who have donated them. Their choices will reflect their personal interests, aims or business needs, and it is possible that numerous judges pick the same artist. In this case, it is possible for one artist to receive multiple awards.
Prize winners from 2015 will be exempt from the same prize (if still offered) in the 2016 exhibition.
All Prizes will be announced at the Prize Giving Ceremony (details tbc) and later online.
