Queries on eligibility of submissions

There is certainly a buzz of activity around the Nottingham Castle Open this year, especially via Social Media, so this is really encouraging to see. Thanks to everywhere who is helping to share our 'Call for Submissions' campaign and please do keep spreading the word. A few queries are regularly coming in regarding eligibility, so this needs some further clarification:

All entrants must live, or be professionally based, in the Midlands.  The Midlands is defined as Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Solihull, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell and Worcestershire.

Your application must state a Midlands address.

If you have previously studied, lived or were born within these boundaries, and you currently do not have a place of work, studio or home in the Midlands, then your submission will be not accepted.

Students must be still actively enrolled in an academic course with a Midlands Institution for the 2013/2014 year.  Students who have completed a course in July 2013 and no longer live within the catchment area cannot apply.

If you are working in collaboration with an artist/group of artists who are not based within the region, then the application must come from a lead artist who is eligible and lives/works within our submission area.  This does not apply to artist groups  where each of you submit a separate piece of work on the application form, so your submission must show a partnership and collaborative artwork(s).
